Charlotte, NC - Imagine if your or a loved one's life was on the line while waiting for an organ transplant. That’s something more 120,000 people struggle with every day. Some of those gathered for a Donor Remembrance Ceremony Friday night. The group LifeShare sponsored the 23rd annual event.
"I'm the recipient of a heart transplant and somebody had to lose their life for me to have a heart and you're so grateful you just want to reach out to the family and say thank you."
“Thank You” are two simple words that come from the heart and it was a heart that a 26 year old man in Tennessee donated to Charlotte resident Kerry Watts.
"That's one of the reasons I'm here I can talk to families and and it may not be my family but I'm so grateful that people sign up to be organ donors.”
Watts was a perfectly healthy man who loved to SCUBA dive before suddenly having two cardiac arrests. He had a heart pump put in place for nine months until he finally got a heart transplant. Continue reading
