Organ donation recipient pays it forward

On a Tuesday morning, the Driver’s License Center in North Union Township is filled wall-to-wall with people waiting their turn to be served.

In a small corner of the building’s vestibule is a small table arranged with photographs of people who have had their lives changed through organ donation.

One photo of a young girl in a volleyball uniform tells the story of how many of her organs went on to save the lives of many people.

Another album full of photos of a young infant who, many years ago, received a life saving organ donation that allowed her to grow into the teenager she is today.

Behind this table is the keeper of all these stories and who is also an evangelist of sorts for the importance of registering to be an organ donor.

His name is Gene Wolbert.
