26-year-old needs second liver transplant, trying to recruit donors

Boston - At 26, Ben Blake suddenly finds himself side-lined from the life and sports management career he's worked so hard for.

"I graduated high school, played baseball, graduated college, got a job with the New York Mets, worked for them for a year and then, just slowly, I noticed my health was decreasing," he said.

But then, Ben's health began to give out.

He was born with biliary atresia, a rare disease that occurs in infants, and needed a liver transplant at the age of 7 months.

He's never taken that gift of life for granted-- never complained about the dozens of daily pills, or the 100s of doctors' visits and hospital stays along the way. But now that liver is failing him and He needs a new one.

"I didn't know there was a life expectancy or expiration date on a liver, and there are -- and it turns out we are seeing an example of this now," said Duane Blake, Ben's dad. VIDEO, Continue reading
