Members of the North Carolina Organ Donor community joined together on Friday, April 15, 2016, at the Brody School of Medicine in Greenville to celebrate and support organ donation. Attendees included organ donors, organ recipients and their families, medical professionalsq, and donor advocates. People attended from across North Carolina and neighboring states. “Linking Hands for Life” opened with remarks from Dwain Cooper, followed by an invocation and six guest speakers, all of whom had been touched by organ donation in some way. Lloyd H. Jordan, the President/CEO of Carolina Donor Services spoke briefly about organ donation and the constant need for living donors, followed by two medical professionals, Karen Malagrino of Vidant Medical Center's Transplant Services, and Kristel McLawhorn, M.D. of Eastern Nephrology Services.
