Father's Day plea: Loving wife begs for kidney donor to save husband

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. - Marty Mioni of Port Orchard just can't bring herself to sit around fretting and waiting while her husband wastes away before her eyes from kidney disease.

She says her 72-year-old husband James, a retired molder, has been battling kidney disease for three years. He's on the waiting list for a kidney but still faces an expected five-year wait until he becomes eligible. Marty wants to donate her own kidney, but she isn't a match.

So she is doing everything else she can think of to help save him.

"I can't sit on my hands and wait on the waiting list," she says. "I am going to do everything I can for the one I love. And hopefully make more people aware of the need for kidneys."
