Pocatello event brings organ recipients, donor families together


POCATELLO — Salt Lake City residents Jason and Tiffany Gordon were among the people who participated in the Dash for Donors here over the weekend to advocate for organ donations and celebrate the legacy of the Pocatello woman whose generous gift saved Tiffany's life.

Tiffany, a diabetic, was put on the transplant list in March 2013. And in September of that year, she learned that a kidney and pancreas were available. The donor, 24-year-old Katie Tonks, died after an epileptic seizure.

“My wife wouldn’t be here right now if it wasn’t for Katie and her family,” Jason said.

Tiffany competed in the Transplant Games of America earlier this year in Cleveland, Ohio, and said Katie’s family has become part of her extended family.
