Santa Clarita Resident Asking For Organ Donors To Help Save Family Members

Mary Andres, a Santa Clarita resident, saw an article recently about a resident who found a kidney through and decided to reach out to the same residents who came forward in hopes they would help her family members as well.

“I heard about the story of Mr. Zimmerman finding a donor for himself,” said Andres. “My family has been affected by kidney disease for many years. My brother and sister both need a kidney donor.”

Andres, who has lived in Santa Clarita since 1968, has two brothers and one sister. All of her siblings have Polycystic Kidney Disease.

Andres’ brother, who moved to Texas to be on a shorter waiting list for a kidney, has been on dialysis for over three years waiting for a donor. He travels to do the dialysis five days a week, and each session takes hours. He had to have his kidneys removed a year ago because the cysts had gotten so big, he had no more room in his stomach.
