Woman with cystic fibrosis even planned own funeral before life-saving organ donor was found

A cystic fibrosis sufferer planned her own funeral because she was convinced a donor would not be found for a vital double lung transplant.

Make-up artist Kirsty Harvey, 32, was diagnosed with the lung disease when she nine months old.

During her teenage years she began picking up infections which affected her breathing.

By the age of 25, her lungs were working at a quarter of their capacity – making it almost impossible for her to walk.

After suffering a lung collapse, followed by two more, doctors told her the only way to save her life would be through a double lung transplant, reports the Daily Record.

Kirsty said: “I knew I was on borrowed time and I might not live long enough for a donor to be found.

“The doctors suggested a palliative care plan and that’s when I decided to plan my own funeral because I didn’t want my family to go through the heartache of doing it. Continue reading
