Car crash victim, 28, saves seven others by donating organs

AN Aussie living in Swindon, who was fatally injured in a car crash, has saved seven lives by donating his organs.

And the popular former Network Rail employee, who touched the lives of many people, is to have a specialist train named in his honour.

Gavin Roberts, 28, moved to the town five months ago from Dapto, New South Wales, and the previous night before the crash had met his new girlfriend's parents for the first time.

He had been driving to work for a night shift as a construction manager when another vehicle, travelling in the opposite direction, lost control and hit the central reservation just before 10pm on the A34 near Newbury.

It careered into the lane Gavin was travelling in and struck his BMW.

The electrical engineer graduate suffered a heart attack, fractured vertebra and cracked ribs and was experiencing lung problems. There was also no blood flow to his brain and he was put into a coma. Continue reading
