'Grey's Anatomy' Fan Gets Inspired To Donate Kidney To Stranger After Watching ABC Show

"Grey's Anatomy" fan Katie Burris recently donated her kidney to a complete stranger after watching the hit ABC series.

According to People, Burris came up with the idea of donating her organ after watching an old episode of "Grey's Anatomy."

At the time, the 27-year-old gathered all of the information that she needed to figure out whether or not donating her kidney would be safe for her.

While speaking with the Arizona Republic, Burris said that her family doesn't have any history of serious illnesses so she figured that she should try and help someone in need.

"It was kind of risk versus benefits, and with my family there is no history of diabetes or hypertension and any kind of kidney disease. I just didn't see a reason to not donate," she said.

Four months ago, Burris underwent transplant surgery, and she discovered that the person who received her kidney has been suffering from the disease for the past 20 years. Continue reading
