Louisiana deputy donates kidney to another deputy in need

COVINGTON, LA -- On Monday, one man will make a major sacrifice for another.

It just so happens that first man is St. Tammany Deputy Robert Andre' Ardeneaux and the second is St. John Deputy Jason Triche.

The sacrifice is a kidney, from one law enforcement officer blessed with a quiet career so far, to one who knows all too well how dozens of Dallas Police officers felt Thursday night.

"I'm going in knowing the risks. He didn't know the risk that night," said Ardeneaux, "He literally almost sacrificed his life for his community and that's something I'd be willing to do every day. So I definitely think what he did is a lot bigger than what I'm willing to do."

Triche was attacked in an ambush with three other deputies in Laplace four years ago. Jeremey Triche and Brandon Nielsen were killed. Jason Triche has struggled through the second chance he was given, living with only one kidney, that needs frequent dialysis to function. Continue reading
