Transplant recipients strip off for new organ donation campaign

THE importance of joining the NHS Organ Donor Register has been laid bare with the launch of a campaign to increase registrations in Scotland.

A new TV advert shows people of all, shapes and sizes, ages and ethnicities stripping off to reveal almost all in a bid to highlight that anyone can be an organ donor.

The ‘We Need Everybody’ campaign to boost the Register has been launched as figures reveal that someone dies waiting on an organ transplant every day in Britain.

The face of the campaign Gordon Hutchison, 26, from East Kilbride, underwent a transplant aged just 13 after being born with a congenital heart defect.

Gordon, who stripped off for the advert to reveal his transplant scar on screen, delivers the message that organ donation saves lives, as someone who knows first-hand. Continue reading
