Donate Life Car Show and Health Expo raises awareness about the need for organ donors

LAS CRUCES - Lupe Jimenez, president of the Southern New Mexico Transplant Support Group, knows what it’s like to have a loved one waiting for an organ donation.

Her fiancé was on the waiting list for a kidney transplant for six years and on dialysis (a treatment that does some of the things done by healthy kidneys) for seven years.

In an effort to raise awareness about the need for organ donors, the Southern New Mexico Transplant Support Group will host its 10th annual Donate Life Car Show and Health Expo from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Young Park, 1905 Nevada Ave. The event will feature classic cars and trucks, hot rods, motorcycles, low riders, compact cars and trucks and more.
