Ralston firefighter undergoes lung transplant surgery

RALSTON, Neb. - A Ralston volunteer firefighter waiting for a lung transplant got some good news Monday morning – he was going to get a new set of lungs.

Michael Bramhall has cystic fibrosis, and has suffered multiple lung collapses. In March, his doctors told him he could no longer work until he got a transplant.

Monday morning, Bramhall tweeted “Got my call for lungs at 953. Just got the call and it’s a go. I get my lungs today!”

Bramhall's sister Jeanne says Michael went into surgery at Duke Medical Center at 7 a.m. Monday.

He came out of surgery around 2 p.m.

Now, Jeanne says the family will get to see him Tuesday morning. Continue reading
