Tony Forte got the call! The 11-year-old Manheim Township boy flies to Miami for multiple organ transplants


Tony Forte, an 11-year-old Manheim Township boy who has spent most of his life on the waiting list for several organ transplants, got the call on Tuesday for his long-awaited surgery.

“Tony is very excited,” his brother, 16-year-old Vinny Forte, said in an email early Tuesday afternoon, “a little nervous and anxious of course but he is definitely ready for it.”

Monica Walker Forte, Tony’s mother, announced at around 10 a.m. on Facebook that they “just got the call” for the transplant in Miami.

Vinny has since been updating his mother’s Facebook page with information as it becomes available.

“Thank you for all the love being shown our way,” he wrote Tuesday morning.

Angel MedFlight arranged emergency transportation for Tony and his parents, Stephen and Monica Forte, from Lancaster Airport to Miami on Tuesday afternoon, Vinny wrote.
