Float will participate in Tournament of Roses Parade

WESTWOOD, Kan. — Work is underway in Westwood on a float that will be featured in the Tournament of Roses Parade.

The Midwest Transplant Network is sponsoring the Donate Life float.

It’s represented this year by Heather Reed-Flynn, a donor who gave the gift of life after an unexpected stroke in August 2015.

The float features a portrait of Reed-Flynn, made entirely of organic materials like flowers and seeds.

“For me, it’s an opportunity for me to show the world, ‘This is who my wife is and was,’” said her husband, David Flynn. “That makes me really proud to be able to do that.”

Reed-Flynn’s family got to put the finishing touches on the portrait. They’ll go to Pasadena to finish the float next month before it participates in the parade on Jan. 2. Continue reading
