Meet Dr. Jeffrey S. Stoff, a pioneer in transplantation and your Wellesley neighbor

"It's a hidden jewel for people here in the Wellesley area. I think this provides not only a new option, but a magnificent new option that people should be more familiar with in this area," said Wellesley resident Jack Rubin as he sat next to his wife, Renee, at their Grove Street home recalling the University of Massachusetts Medical School VIP Tour they took with Wellesley's Council On Aging.

In September, the COA sponsored the day trip in partnership with UMass Medical. Thirty-six Wellesley residents headed out to Worcester to learn how Massachusetts tax dollars have been used to construct state-of-the-art facilities, and provide seed funds for cutting-edge work being done by world class researchers, said former COA chairwoman Susan Lange, who helped organize the trip.

Among the UMass Medical luminaries who spoke with the group that day, long-time Wellesley resident Dr. Jeffrey S. Stoff was the featured luncheon speaker. Stoff is the Chief of Renal Medicine and Transplantation Medicine, a professor of Medicine and the Department of Microbiology and Physiological Systems (MaPS), and Medical Director of Pancreas Transplantation and also Satellite Dialysis.
