Mother of organ donor and transplant recipient meet for first time

SAN ANTONIO -- The mother of a high school football player, who died after a tragic car crash one year ago, is meeting one of her son's transplant recipients for the first time.

The donor's family and the recipient have exchanged letters and talked over the phone before Friday’s meeting.

Prior to the get together, there was a range of emotions for both Kent Kirkman and Karla Gonzalez.

“I'm feeling excited,” said Kirkman.

“Very nervous but I'm excited, too,” added Gonzalez.
