Odessan selected for Rose Bowl Parade

Cindy Keel-White of Odessa has been selected to represent the Texas organ and tissue donor registry by riding on the Donate Life Rose Parade Float in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif., on Jan 2, 2017.
Cindy Keel-White is a heart transplant recipient from Odessa who will be in the Rose Parade in California.

Cindy Keel-White grew up enjoying the Rose Bowl Parade on television each year and will now get a chance to ride on a float in the storied parade come January.

Donate Life Texas named her the 2017 delegate for the Donate Life Rose Parade Float. Since receiving a heart transplant in 2011, White has been an enthusiastic advocate for donation and the importance of joining the Donate Life Texas organ, eye and tissue donor registry.

A childhood battle with Hodgkin’s disease ultimately led to White’s need for a heart transplant in 2011. Since then, White regularly attends events and makes presentations to groups about the growing need for transplants and the value of donor registration. She’s so active, in fact, that the organ procurement organization serving Midland/Odessa, Southwest Transplant Alliance, named her as 2015 Regional Volunteer of the Year. Continue reading
