Lynchburg woman heads to Florida for long-awaited organ treatment

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) After waiting more than two decades for a solution to her medical problems, a Lynchburg woman may finally be getting the help she's been seeking.

WDBJ7 was at the Lynchburg Regional Airport Tuesday morning as medical workers helped Jaine Carpenter board a private jet.

Carpenter is headed to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida for what she hopes will be a heart and kidney transplant.

Carpenter's husband, Melvin, said his wife's organs were damaged more than 20 years ago by cancer treatments. Continue reading
