NEWTON, NJ—The Town Council proclaimed April to be National Donate Life Month in the town of Newton, during their regular meeting on Monday.

On hand to accept the proclamation was the NJ Sharing Network. The New Providence based organization is celebrating 30 years of saving lives. They address the urgent need for organ and tissue donors across the country and hopes to promote a better understanding about the life-saving benefits of donation and transplantation.

Mayor Sandra Diglio presented four members that were present with the proclamation certificate as she read the proclamation aloud, which stated some of the following information:

“WHEREAS, the transplantation of organs and tissue is a miracle of modern medicine made possible through the compassion of organ and tissue donors, enabling surgeons to save thousands of lives every year. One organ donor can save eight lives and one tissue donor can restore health to over 75 others…currently, there are over 4,000 New Jersey residents and over 120,000 Americans awaiting life-saving transplant operations;” Continue reading
