Blue, green ribbons mark National Donate Life Month

BAKERSFIELD NOW  JJ's Legacy decorated trees in downtown Bakersfield with blue and green ribbons Monday to commemorate National Donate Life Month. Lori Malkin started the organization in 2009 after her son Jeff, for whom JJ's Legacy is named, died of a head injury. Since then, she has made it her mission to teach people about registering to become an organ and tissue donor. "My son gave sight to two blind people with his corneas," Malkin said. "You can enhance over 50 lives through tissue donation." Hospitals in Kern County and around the country raised "Donate Life" flags and banners to encourage people to become donors. Continue reading
