Double organ transplant recipient recalls life saving donation

Landon Benoit received a double organ transplant that saved his life.
JENNINGS - April is donate life month and because of an organ donation, a Jennings man is alive today.

At the age of 13, Landon Benoit was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes.

"Didn't have a clue all of what that entailed when the doctors told me all the things that could happen," Benoit said.

He said the doctors told them his organs could be affected and possibly his eyesight.

Those possibilities became his reality.

By the time he was in his early 30s, Benoit said he lost his quality of life. He went blind and had to move back in with his parents because he needed help with tasks that he was once able to do on his own. He also started having kidney failure.
