Mother recounts importance of son's tissue donation at OSF St. Anthony

ROCKFORD (WREX) - He died 13 years ago, but Noah Boos' untimely death helped dozens of other people waiting for transplants.

"Our son Noah was about 18-years-old and he initiated the topic of organ donation in our kitchen one morning," said Gayle Boos, his mother, "I told him, 'Noah I did not want to' and he said, 'No mom, it's important. So I listened because he was wise beyond his years."

Noah died in a car wreck on his way to college in Freeport. There'd been a bad snow storm over the weekend.

Noah's tissue donation helped 23 others. It was all coordinated by OSF St. Anthony.

The hospital was recognized Thursday for coordinating so many donations like Noahs'.
