Our View: Celebrate Easter by choosing to become an organ donor

Many Lake Havasu City households are observing Easter today by staging lively egg hunts for the youngsters and serving feasts for friends and family. The faithful are celebrating the age-old story of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, believing that His eternal life proves His divine nature and sinless character.

This Christian belief in eternal life makes Easter an opportune time to consider organ donation. It is not coincidental that April is National Donate Life Month, annually falling near the Easter holiday. The movement encourages Americans to register as organ and tissue donors.

It’s a heady concept, actually, knowing that we all have the potential to capture and pass on life to others by being a donor. Currently, there are 2,400 recipients in Arizona waiting for a match.

Registering to be a donor is easy to do; it takes about 90 seconds to complete the online form. Visit the federal government’s website, organdonor.gov, and sign up for the Arizona registry or registries in other states.
