With Build-A-Bear help, teen makes hospital bear-able for others

Abby Jones was on a mission when she and her mother ventured into the Build-A-Bear store at Woodland Hills Mall.

Jones, 13, is a frequent customer at Build-A-Bear workshops. She earns money for stuffed critters by doing chores like babysitting her sister, taking care of her dog, cleaning her room and vacuuming.

What should she buy this time?

Armed with $30, Abby explored the shelves and didn’t need much time to pick out a Chocolate Chunk Pup and a Lil Hazelnut Cub.

Abby, who seemed pleased with her selections, carried the pup and the cub to associate workshop manager Becca Nichols so the animals could be stuffed.

“You want to give the dog a hug and see how it feels?” Nichols asked.
