Brampton fire victim dies, organ donation saves a family member

The 21-year-old woman pulled from a Brampton house fire May 15 has died.

But even as Manuela Nicoletti’s family grieves the loss of her bright future, her death has brought another family member new hope for his own.

One of Manuela’s relatives, Joe Migliaccio, 61, underwent transplant surgery Sunday, May 21 and received her kidney.

Manuela, remembered by older brother Stanley as a “silly, loving girl,” was asleep in the basement of her family’s Mount Fuji Crescent house when fire broke out just after 11 a.m.

The Cardinal Ambrozic high school graduate, known as Wella to her friends, was sleeping in the basement as renovation work was done on the second floor. Continue reading
