FLOWOOD, MS (Mississippi News Now) - We had NASCAR in the metro on Wednesday. Xfinity Series driver Joey Gase stopped by the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency. MORA will once again sponsor his number 52 Camaro Saturday at Talladega.

This is more than just a sticker on a typical stock car. Joey's mother Mary Jo passed away from a brain aneurism in 2011. She was a registered organ donor. Mary Jo ended up saving or improving the lives of 66 people.

The Xfinity driver has had a taste of the Monster Energy Series. Gase started 2017 in the Daytona 500. He'll go double-duty this weekend just like he did for the Great American Race.

"I remember just watching that race when I was younger at my grandparents. To actually race in that race, it was amazing. I think the highest we got up to was 9th. And unfortunately, it was kind of a wreck fest and we got involved in 3 of them. We somewhat survived and got to the end, we finished 23rd." Continue reading
