It's a MATCH: John and Claudia Tibbutt overcame the odds to find love on the badminton court

The pair both played professional badminton before suffering kidney failure
A Cambridge couple who beat the odds to find love on the badminton court are to compete together at the World Transplant Games.

John, 40, and Claudia Tibbutt, 37, who were both diagnosed with kidney failure at a young age, will take part in the global sporting event for organ transplant recipients in Malaga, Spain, next month (June).

The pair first met at the 2013 Durban games in South Africa and through their love of sport, hit it off immediately.

"We met at the games. There were so many competitors but if you play the same sport you see each other," said Claudia, who formed a long distance relationship with John for a year before the pair got married and had a daughter, Nora, in 2015.

Cambridgeshire county badminton player John received a transplant in 2009 aged 32, after he was diagnosed with a rare condition called IgA nephropathy in 2002. Continue reading
