Totnes athlete appeals for help to get to World Transplant Games

Totnes athlete Serena Tucker has been invited to compete in the World Transplant games this summer following on from her Gold medal at the GB Transplant Games.

Serena, who donated a kidney five years ago, has been invited to be part of the Great Britain Swimming team at the games to be held in Malaga in June.

All competitors in the games have at some point in their life have received a life saving organ transplant, but for the first time this year donors have been invited to take part in the world games.

Serena donated a kidney five years ago to a friend, who was on kidney dialysis three times a week, hours at a time, suffering from pain, illness and tiredness until she received her new kidney allowing her to be a mother again to her son, and go back to work. Continue reading
