Kidney recipient honors donor

PHILIPPI — The month of May marked 15 years since Philippi resident Angela Golden received a kidney transplant from her donor, Ian Clark.

Clark was killed in an automobile accident at the age of 19; now his memory lives on in the life of Golden.

Each year on the anniversary of Golden’s procedure, her family has a celebration event, inviting all of their loved ones. The celebration has become known as “Ian Day.”

The 2017 annual Ian Day took place May 20 at Golden’s residence in Philippi.

“I invite friends, family and his relatives,” Golden said. “We just have a huge cookout! It is a big celebration of his life, and his gift to me, my life.” Continue reading
