Oakley man meets the mother of his life-saving liver donor

OAKLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) It's a tradition at a lot of weddings. The father will walk the bride down the isle and give his daughter away.

"It's every father's dream to be able to give your daughter away to somebody who you know will take care of her," said Troy Westover, who gave his daughter away on Friday. "It was really double amazing for me because I was really close to not being able to be there."

Less than three years ago Westover was given two days to two weeks to live. His liver was failing and he needed a transplant.

"When they told me that he had two days to two weeks to live, I of course broke down," said Karen Westover, Troy's wife. "Up to that point it hadn't been real that his liver was in failure."

Troy was put on a transplant list. A process that usually takes a while, but Troy was only on the list for a matter of days. Continue reading
