Family of organ donor meets heart recipient

It was an emotional reunion for a family who lost their loved one in a tragic accident nearly five years ago.


St. Lucie County, Fla. — It was an emotional reunion for a family who lost their loved one in a tragic accident nearly five years ago.

Saturday, the family meeting a woman who now has a new meaning of life, because of a decision their son made.

A warm and tearful embrace several years in the making.

Sharon Schwabenbauer and Adelia Harris meet each other first time.

In 2012, Sharon’s son Joshua Schwabenbauer was killed in a tragic off-duty accident.

The 26-year-old firefighter-paramedic from Lauderhill, Florida was an organ donor.

A decision that gave four people second chance at life, including 24-year-old Harris, who received his heart. Continue reading
