14-year-old saves lives through organ donation

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) The DMV reports that more than 5,000 people in New England are waiting for a life saving transplant, and everyday 20 people die because the organ they need doesn't get to them in time.

"He loved his family, he loved his friends. [He was an] outdoorsy kid. [He was] just happy," said Shelby Boyce about her brother Kyle Rogers. "He was a die-hard hunter."

In 2012 the West Topsham teen and his family left the Green Mountains for Tennessee. Two years later, the 14-year-old was riding in the passenger seat when the car he was in hit a tree. He was rushed to the hospital where he died.

"It was a really hard decision for my parents but he wouldn't have been able to do the things he loved," said Boyce. Continue reading
