Donor sought for Bozeman nurse in need of life-saving kidney transplant

BOZEMAN - According to kidneyfund.org, kidney disease is the 9th leading cause of death in the U.S. with more than 80,000 people waiting for a kidney on the transplant list.

One Bozeman woman is fighting against being one of those numbers, and her amazing support team is doing everything they can to find her a kidney.

Looking at Ginger Bokma, you can tell she’s a loving wife, mother, and an amazing RN. What you may not notice is that she has been battling kidney disease for last nine years.

"I had my daughter 10 years ago and at my 1-year appointment to follow up, my doctor noticed something off with my kidneys. So she sent me to an internal medicine doctor that followed me for a couple of months and she said I need to go to a nephrologist," Ginger said.

Over the years, Ginger has seen herself getting sicker and sicker, losing energy and seeing rising blood pressure. Everything the doctors have tried has made no difference in her health. So Ginger's doctor said that it was time for a kidney transplant. Continue reading
