Mesa family finds bittersweet solace through daughter's organ donations

MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -The family of a Mesa woman who died in a weekend car accident is finding comfort in her final act of organ donation. Already Jacqueline McAuliff has helped at least five other people in the first two days since she was taken off a ventilator.

The McAuliff family talked with Arizona's Family about how happy their daughter and sister was. Their GoFundMe page says Jacqueline was a ray of sunshine who had a love for life.

"She was just free and joyous just like she was, like a butterfly," her father Jason said.

Just hours before the car crash that left her brain dead Saturday night, she was out dancing at sunset. But with the bitter comes the sweet. Jason and his wife Angela had talked about organ donation with their seven kids from the time they were little.

"We had told them as their parents that we would try and help other children and their families by donation," Angela said. Continue reading
