March Is National Kidney Disease Prevention Month

Did you know that one in three Americans is at risk for chronic kidney disease? I was shocked by that number.

Since March is National Kidney Disease Prevention Month and April is National Donate Life Month, when we were asked to share about kidney disease, we decided it was a great time to help spread the word. So you know, we did receive a small amount of compensation to help cover our costs of promoting this PSA.

You may be surprised to learn that kidney disease actually causes more deaths than breast cancer or prostate cancer! It is the 9th leading cause of death in the United States.

The numbers are huge, but the scariest part is that most people don’t even realize they have kidney disease.

Studies estimate that 30 million people in the U.S. are affected but 90% of those with kidney disease don’t know they have it. Continue reading
