Morbid obesity is a public health problem in its own right, but the only thing the researchers are concerned with is getting them down to a manageable weight so they can harvest their kidney for someone else.

80% of folks who lose weight regain it within 2 years. 2/3 regain more than they lost within 4-5 years. Can you guess what's worse than a morbidly obese potential kidney donor? When our 26 year old son was pronounced "brain dead" I suggested organ donation before the nurse/professional could even mention it. I felt it was a way to keep my son's perfectly fit and healthy body from being wasted, and to allow him to be a hero for a second time.
Maybe the nurse you spoke of has some illness that she has not told anyone about. If so, the excuse of religion could help her cover up her inability to donate. Just a thought.

I never met Sarah Burke but her spirit and her amazing life and accomplishments have inspired me to become a better person and to strive harder to achieve my goals. She was taking so young and had more achievements than most people would have in ten lifetimes. I know Rory lost his soulmate and his best friend. The love you each had in your eyes during your wedding was so telling of a love that was meant to be. She will always be present in each of our hearts and I will always ski for Sarah!
