Company hopes new app will help improve communications for organ transplants

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A University of Iowa doctoral student and a recent graduate are trying to get lifesaving organs to the people who need them faster.

Timing is everything - particularly when it comes to organ transplants.

"Anything that saves time, effort, improves communication, effective communication is definitely a benefit to everyone involved and ultimately the patient" said Angelina Korsun, the chief administrative officer for the Organ Transplant Center at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The human body has eight major organs that can be donated.

"Each of these will go to potentially a recipient center or hospital half way across the country and so for any organ transplant that occurs there's right around 40-50 people per organ that need to know what's going on" said Dalton Shaull, CEO and founder of HealthTech Solutions. Continue reading
