Kindness Through Kidney Transplant

(ABC 6 News) -- A sudden cancer diagnoses can turn your life upside down, but one Rochester man with more than 50 tumors in both his kidneys received a life-saving gift from an unexpected friend.

St. James Coffee in northwest Rochester sees lots of regular customers every day, including Bryan Wattier, who regularly works from the shop.

Bryan was living a completely normal life, until he received some troubling news.

"I found out in December that I had cancer in both of my kidneys,” Bryan said. “So they had to remove both of my kidneys."

According to Donate Life America, Bryan became one of 118,000 people are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.

"It was a huge shock to hear, 'Yeah, you have cancer, and oh, by the way, we need to take out both of your kidneys,’ so initially I was shocked," Bryan said. Continue reading
