By donating a kidney to his father, Ennis man lives on after death

The untimely death of a young Ennis man doesn't mean that he won't live on, his family says.

Symon Castillo, 22, suffered a brain injury when he fell off a ledge June 30 in Fort Worth in what his family is calling a “freak accident,” KDFW-TV (Channel 4) reports. He died five days later.

"Anybody that knew him loved his smile," his aunt Monica Castillo told KDFW. "He was just amazing. He was just a giver."

True to that giving nature, Castillo was an organ donor, and his heart and one of his kidneys were going to recipients in Houston.

His other kidney went to his father, Nate Castillo of Fort Worth, who had been awaiting a match for a kidney transplant. Continue reading
