Local family fears medical bills with possible GOP healthcare plan

(WDAY)—Healthcare changes could force some families to be without care, including a local boy we've been following through a medical journey.

Just last month, Alex Leach of Enderlin got life-saving organ transplant surgery.

His mom says that alone cost $1.8-million.

The video above is from when we visited Alex in the hospital in Omaha two weeks ago.

He's healing, but his family is now facing the stress of not being able to pay for his care.

His mom, Candi says his medication and supplies alone costs $600,000 a year.

She's been in talks with Senator John Hoeven's office, which told her that if the current republican healthcare plan were to go through their family could be kicked off of their current insurance because of Alex's pre-existing condition.

They also could meet a cap on medicaid. Continue reading
