Ella Dee died in the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle when she became ill while waiting for her second heart transplant

Eight-year-old Ella Dee lost her battle for life on Tuesday in the Freeman Hospital, in Newcastle, while waiting for a new heart.

The poorly schoolgirl was diagnosed with a major heart defect while she was still in the womb and underwent a life-saving transplant operation when she was six.

Tragically, her body began to reject the new organ and following complications Ella passed away in the arms of her mum Alice Holton and dad Darren Dee.

Paying tribute to her little girl, Alice, 27, said: “She was such a bubbly character and wise beyond her years.

“She made everybody laugh, even her teachers at school. She will be a big loss to everybody.” Continue reading
