Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for those who have received a kidney transplant. More than 50% of the post transplant deaths are associated with cardiac failure. Unfortunately, those who are on kidney dialysis and the kidney transplant waiting list have an even higher incidence of death from cardiac failure.
